1st -5th Grade Programs
Our small class sizes allow teachers to get to know each student’s personality and habits, which in turn allows us to work with parents to help their student achieve at their highest levels.
The schedule below is temporary and will change according to the school schedule.
1st Grade
It is difficult to grasp that children who have just finished kindergarten and are now entering the first grade are students. This is the time for their critical transition into their official academic careers. EMI structures English classes to help students attain phonemic awareness though which they develop their handwriting. Furthermore, and perhaps most importantly, EMI helps students cultivate positive attitudes towards learning.

2nd Grade
The second grade is the year when students become more adjusted to school life and gain more social skills. EMI customizes its teaching using each individual student’s school curriculum and its resources such as class textbooks. Instructors at EMI home in at whether the student truly understands the material and devise the best method to guide the student to solving problem. At this point in English, students in the second grade are expected to read and write.
At EMI, we help attain that level and beyond through our carefully crafted Reading classes. In Math, students are expected to understand the basics of addition and subtraction as well as solve problems and have a certain level of comprehension skills. Those skills are attained through drills and memorization. If the child excels, he or she may go further towards the end of the year by proceeding to third grade level materials.
3rd Grade
The third grade is a very important year as it marks the start of serious study. This year, students are expected to have a firm grasp of fundamental concepts and solidify study disciplines that will provide a framework for their future academics. Our classes have a maximum of ten students. The students take classes alongside their peers where they can discuss and forum to encourage dialogue and thereby cultivate not only important speaking skills but also reasoning and critical thinking skills. By doing this, the teachers can fluidly glean the child’s state of mind and address any areas that need improvement or praise. If the child is having particular problems, the staff at EMI will consult with the students’ parents to resolve the said problems.
EMI carefully curates all our teaching material that is supported by the school’s curriculum and aims to boost the student’s academic records. In English class, students are given five words to memorize daily and Grammar and Reading practice materials to provide a solid foundation in English. Making sure students are able to memorize all the basic multiplication tables as well as the mechanics of grammar helps improve the applicability of problem solving. At EMI, we help students develop the habit of reading book 20—30 minutes every day since the first grade.

4th Grade
The fourth grade is said to be the most important year in elementary school. It is the academic year in which students make their mark by taking on new challenges whether it be in new types of work and social experiences or long-range planning that schools will now start to require in their assignments or adapting to social dynamics. We try to make sure that the student is progressing as he or she should be at school, and if the child is having any difficulties, we try to help resolve those so that they do not persist onto the next year. Our fourth-grade class is a group of ten like-minded students. For the sake of clear-cut progression, we do not combine disparate grades together. By doing so, it facilitates accurate understanding the pace at which each student is learning.
EMI carefully curates all our teaching material (especially through school textbooks) that is supported by the school’s curriculum and aims to boost the student’s academic records. English class starts with having students memorize five words each day. Then, the students proceed to Grammar and Reading. In Math class, students become fully able to use the multiplication and division skills they learned in the third grade to complete computations with ease.
5th Grade
Fifth grade is the final year of elementary school. It is during the fifth grade in which all the knowledge mastered in the fourth grade is utilized and studies are more deeply in preparation for middle school. Fifth grade is about helping student practice, refine, and grow their skills. They implement the skills at hand to analyze and think deeply, constructively, and individually. The fifth-grade class at EMI is limited to ten students who do not mix with other grade levels for the sake of clear-cut progression of fifth graders. We try to make sure that the student is progressing as he or she should be at school and investigate what we can do to make sure the student is performing at the optimal level in school.
EMI carefully curates thoroughly prepared material designed specifically for the fifth-grade curriculum. In English class, students must memorize five words daily. Then, the students proceed to practice Grammar, Reading, and Reading Comprehension problems. Most of the fifth-grade reading curriculum focuses on teaching students to understand the texts they have read and develop ideas using those texts to support their ideas. In Math class, students practice more complex computations using all four basic operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—fractions, decimals, etc.
